Taking the Leap
TTL-1
(This ritual is performed at the end of the ceremony. It was an old Celtic tradition.)
Before ____________ and _______________ take their walk together down the aisle, they are going to take "the leap". An old Celtic custom that marks the passing from their old lives and into their new lives. A life as equal partners, with shared responsibilities. In front of them is placed a broom. The broom symbolizes the home. The upkeep of the home and all domestic responsibilities were shared by both the husband and the wife. Next, a sword is placed on the path infront of them. The sword is a symbol of security. The security of the home, the family and the community. Again, this was shared by both husband and wife. It was common for Celtic women to go into battle with their men. So now ____________ and ______________ , accepting these shared responsibilities will now make the leap.
